Last Monday I had the pleasure of partnering up with Goodwill to help style at risk high school students for job interviews. I along with stylist/blogger Shaunya worked with students who are repeating 9th grade and have been provided with a curriculum that incorporates career readiness as a major component of student learning. I worked with 3 of the students directly; Alize, Angie and Justin. They were awesome and I had so much fun!
My job was to help the students put together looks that are interview appropriate that will help boost their confidence and get them excited to pursue and work toward their job and career goals. Here are some candid shots of me working with Angie to put together her outfit!
It was amazing to see how the attitudes of the students changed the second they put on their new interview ready attire. They felt confident and ready to kick major butt. Don’t they look great?
Did I mention we scored all of their outfits at Goodwill?! We were at the Chelsea location on 25th and 6th ave and while scouring the racks I spotted some really awesome fashion finds too. I hope the students left feeling excited for their futures and will remember that feeling whenever they may be discouraged.
A big thank you to Goodwill for inviting me to participate! It was a great way for me to give back and have some fun at the same time.
I have also been blogging for Goodwill every other Monday. Check out my latest posts HERE!
