What’s In My Gym Bag?

I pretty much live at the gym. I do my best to go at least 5 days a week and I am very proud to say that I’ve stuck to that commitment since I started on my fitness journey back in January. It has become part of my daily routine and I don’t feel 100% if I don’t get a good work out in. Being that I frequent the gym on the regular I thought I would share with you all some of my must-have items that I carry in my gym bag. 1. Headphones: I only use headphones when I am at the gym or flying in an airplane. I find them uncomfortable so there is no way I was going to spend a lot of money on a pair so finding these bright pink babies for just $5 at Target was a total win for me! They work great! 2. Lifting Gloves: I train at the gym by lifting weights where it can get heavy and strenuous so protecting my hands from callouses is a must! …

B.A.D. Girl Tip: Eat, Drink and Feel Happy

It’s that time of year where there will be plenty of opportunities to indulge.  My secret for enjoying the holiday season and all the guilty pleasures that come along with it is easy. I do whatever is going to make me feel good and I focus my energy on the positive versus the negative. I feel good about that piece of pie because it was exactly what I wanted. I don’t shame myself for having seconds on Thanksgiving but instead practice gratitude for being lucky enough to have a meal to enjoy. I also make it a point to not participate in those after holiday discussions where people share all that they ate and how bad they feel about it. I don’t need to feel guilt because I am doing nothing wrong. When you feel good about your decisions you are rewarded with an equally good outcome (i.e. no increase on that scale). It has worked for me thus far so I challenge you to do the same this year! What is your favorite holiday indulgence?  xoxo …

B.A.D. Girl Photo Diary: The Color Run #Happiest5k

Last weekend I participated in my first ever 5k called The Color Run, which is equal to about 3.1 miles! The run took place at Citified in Queens, NY.  Now I must make it clear that I am no runner so I agreed to participate because this run is all about having fun, feeling happy and being active. Plus, you get splashed with color throughout which makes it impossible not to have a blast! So here are a few photos from our day. I can check  off participating in a 5k run from my bucket list now! This was such a fun feel good event that was so much fun we didn’t want the race to end. It didn’t even feel like 3 miles! I definitely recommend everyone participate at least once because you will have a blast! BTW in case you are curious the color used is dyed corn starch powder and yes, it comes off easily. 🙂 Have you ever participated in a 5K run? XOXO Nicole For more info about The Color Run visit here. B.A.D. Girl Tip: Get Your Mind Right to Get In Shape

B.A.D. Girl Lifestyle Tip: The law of attraction states that what we think about and more importantly put feeling behind we bring about in our lives so everyday I make a conscious effort to think and feel good as much as I can. In doing this I have seen amazing results with my fitness goals and I want to share with you guys what I have been doing besides eating better and exercising. I have made the word “weight” a taboo. I no longer use the word weight because if you constantly worry about putting on weight or gaining weight or even losing weight the universe has no choice but to give you WEIGHT! I don’t feel Guilt. If I want to enjoy a piece of cake or order french fries with my meal I do it and I enjoy it and I don’t allow myself to feel guilty for it. Feeling guilty will attract more guilt in the form or weight gain! I use positive mantras. “I am healthy” and “I am slim” are my go-to’s. …

Be (D)etermined to Live a Healthier Lifestyle

♥  Next time you have a craving for something sweet, grab a piece of fruit. ♥ Drop your daily calorie intake drastically by cutting out unnecessary calorie loaded beverages like soda, juice, lattes, frappes,  etc. ♥  You should be averaging at least 10,000 steps a day. Most Americans are way under this goal, so if you can walk it out, do itttt. ♥ White Bread is not your friend. Meet whole grain or wheat bread they are so much cooler. ♥ Jamie Fox may be able to blame it on the alcohol, but YOU should NOT. Don’t let alcohol be the reason you’re unhappy with your weight. The best way to make a change in your eating habits is to start off small. It is not easy to eliminate all the crap we’ve been eating for so long, so start off slow. What are some ways you are staying healthy?

Be (B)eautiful: Health is beautiful. There’s nothing beautiful about destroying your body, even if you do it slowly by neglecting your body. Be (A)uthentic: One of my favorite sites to go to for unique jewelry pieces is http://www.pnkelephant.com! I can’t stop obsessing over these little gems! I love how I can wear them with a casual day look and a more trendy night outfit. How cute are they BG’s?? Be (D)etermined: If there is one thing I can’t stand about people and grammar  it’s when they say: “I could care less“. This statement is incorrect and it means that there actually is some interest!!  The correct statement is “I COULDN’T care less“, which means you pretty much don’t give a damn at all. So next time you’re in an argument I hope the correct statement comes out of your mouth please. 😉

Be (B)eautiful: Blueberries have been said to help banish belly fat and they are full of antioxidants. So eat them fresh for the best results. (source) Be (A)uthentic: In order to reach your fitness goals you need to be realistic. B.A.D girls have busy lifestyles and we expect results fast. However, it is better to lose weight at a slower pace than trying to lose 20 pounds in 4 weeks. Don’t over exert yourself or start a crazy diet b/c you want to see quick results. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle is just that- it is a LIFESTYLE and you need to change your habits in order to see long-lasting results. Be (D)etermined: So you lost your weight and are happy with your banging body. Now you can go back to your old habits and chill out with the work outs right? The answer is no. Once you shed some pounds or tone up its your job to maintain it. Your body will not maintain its figure on its own. Living a healthy lifestyle is …
