Nolcha Fashion Week: Karo Swimwear Spring/Summer 2014 Runway Show Review

Karo Swimwear is the brainchild of Polish designer Kasia Roginska who launched her collection just this past January. She designs each piece to have built in jewelry and stones, which makes her swimsuits really pretty and unique. Her Spring 2014 collection was very eclectic and funky, which was really fun to see live. The line consisted mostly of monokinis and bikinis in bright fun colors with embellishments and sexy silhouettes. “My vision is to create something totally unique, a piece that’s not only a swimsuit. I want it to be a piece of art, something that makes woman feel elegant, edgy and sexy at the same time. Each piece has built in something that every female cherishes…jewelry.” ~Kasia RoginskaMy favorite swimsuit from the collection is called “Cleopatra” its the olive green suit with the embellished top (1st photo). I think its safe to say you have to be a daring and bold female to rock her sexy pieces because they are definitely more for show than for actual swimming! I loved how each models shoes matched their …

Project Subway SS 2014 Runway Show at Nolcha Fashion Week New York

I was really excited to attend the Project Subway runway competition which took place during New York Fashion Week as part of Nolcha Fashion Week which is a platform to showcase up and coming designers. The host of the event was none other than Jared, himself. He was super nervous to be hosting a fashion event, which he clearly knows nothing about lol, but it was still cool to have him there since he is the face of Subway. I became even more excited when I was seated directly across from one of my childhood idols, Mel B. (Scary Spice)! She was a part of the judging panel for the competition in which designers had to create pieces solely made out of materials found in a Subway restaurant. The four designers who competed for a years worth of Subway sandwiches and the winning title were Danilo Gabrielli (winner), Jennifer Henry, Mariana Valentina and Ainslee Bowers. The popular and most easily thought of material to use had to be napkins although I really appreciated the creativity an …

VOZ SS14 NYFW Runway Show

Handmade Luxury Meets Social Change  I was thrilled to attend the VOZ SS14 runway show during fashion week because I really love the brands movement to empower indigenous artisans and their art forms through collaborative fashion design.  Voz’s garments are hand made and feature premium quality natural and ecological fibers, hand dyed and woven to celebrate ancient traditions. The SS14 collection was filled with beautiful woven pieces, cotton and silk dresses and really pretty sweaters that looked so soft and cozy for the transition from winter to spring. Here is a video I took of the final walk during the show. The VOZ designers work intimately with artisans in communities in Southern Chile to envision, prototype and finalize the fashion collections. In turn, these artisans receive name credit and earn royalties for their designs featured in the collection. Seeing the clothes go down the runway live allowed me to really see the beautiful craftsmanship and the exquisite details. The pieces really are beautiful and I am excited to see how this brand  grows and expands …

Nolcha Fashion Week: Samantha Cole London FW 13

On Wednesday, February 13, Nolcha Fashion Week: New York Fall/Winter 2013 presented by Rusk held their runway shows at Pier 59. For those of you who may not be familiar with Nolcha, now in its sixth year, they are one of New York’s leading platforms for independent global fashion designers. I fell in love with designer Samantha Cole and her Fall/Winter 13 collection. The models looked so tough and ready to kick ass.  There were lots of bold geometric prints and dark colors, but I personally loved the all white looks. Samantha Cole’s designs are very strong and edgy. Her collections are all designed with an underlying theme involving female empowerment,  which of course, I love. What do you think of the collection? Check out more from Nolcha Fashion week HERE and more from Samantha Cole London Here. *photos via
