‘Goodwill Suits You’ Fashion Show 2013 Event Recap

The ‘Goodwill Suits You’ Fashion Show took place on October 1st at the 3rd ave Harlem Goodwill Store location to kick of Disability Employment Awareness Month. I participated as a stylist for 3 fabulous models:  Richard, Sheril and Kim! I met with each of them individually at Goodwill Stores to help pick out professional attire that they can walk the runway in and use for the workplace. Here are some pics of them working the runway during the show! I styled Richard in a dark grey suit with a paisley tie that will be perfect for when he goes on interviews in the communications/tech space. Richard was so much fun to work with and he definitely did his thing on the runway! Sheril was my super model because she is so tall and slim so I styled her in a black knee length pencil skirt and a fun printed blouse paired with a sweater to make it office/work appropriate since the blouse had no sleeves. Sheril worked it! The tweed jacket Kim is rocking was such …

B.A.D. Girl Style: NYFW Day One

I FINALLY get to attend New York Fashion Week this year since I am self employed and can make my own schedule. Woop!  On Day 1 of NYFW Lincoln Center was buzzing and I was just taking it all in while sipping on a Beck’s Sapphire beer (free during cocktail hour!).  You’re only allowed into the actual venue if you have a ticket for a show that day otherwise people hang out outside hoping to see someone famous or get photographed. This is the outfit I wore to attend the Desigual SS14 runway show, which was SO good btw! I was really excited to find a cute pair of faux leather jogger pants at Mystique Boutique. I have seen these pants trending on some of my favorite bloggers and couldn’t wait to rock them. The tiger crop top is also from Mystique Boutique. The Sandals are from H&M and my bag is by Ted Baker. I also can’t forget to mention that my earrings are from my sorority sister’s jewelry line, Love, Nidia E.  I …

B.A.D. Girl Style: Crop Tops

Crop tops are everywhere and I think that anyone regardless of their size can get in on this trend if they really want to. How to Wear a Crop Top: Find a style that works for you. There are so many available that range from really fitted/cropped to longer and more loose. Pair it with high waist shorts or pants. This allows you to cover up more of your tummy. For a modest look have your bottom cover your belly button so you show just a hint of skin. Elastic waist bottoms like maxi skirts are also perfect to pair with crop tops. If you don’t want to show any skin layer it up with a fitted tank underneath the crop top. DIY! Take an old tee and cut it yourself so it is a length you are comfortable with. Don’t forget to accessorize! How do you rock crop tops? P.s. This photo is from a recent photo shoot I styled and shot for MyTee B.A.D! The sugar skull crop tee is brand new! Enter …

Coily Head Chicks Product Review

I was contacted by hair care company CoilyHeadChick to review some of the products from their line for curly-haired girls. Now, I don’t normally wear my hair curly because I find the maintenance to be too much with my hectic schedule. However, I do love trying out new products since my hair has changed as an adult. Here are the three products I used on my hair: 1. Ultimate Hair Treat – A concentrated leave in moisturizer that can also be used daily. 2. Hair Perfection– A multipurpose styling gel 3. Hair Martini– A refresher hair spray for your curls. PROS: All natural high quality ingredients My hair was frizz free Products did not make my curls feel hard and crunchy CONS: I am sensitive to smells and the products left my hair smelling like baby powder, which I did not like. Whenever I touched my hair I felt residue from the product on my hands – even after my hair dried completely. I will definitely give CoilyHeadChick another try and I am thinking about …

B.A.D. Girl Style: Gypsy Rocker

Head scarves are my new obsession especially because I am in desperate need of a hair cut! I purchased this cute skull printed scarf from H&M for $6 and because its narrow it makes for the perfect head piece. You can wear a head scarf so many different ways ( like this way), but I decided to keep the scarf long and flowy since I was going for a gypsy vibe. I am also REALLY excited to debut one of my brand new tee designs for MyTee B.A.D! This along with a bunch more will be up for sale very soon! I really can’t get enough of these Jeffrey Campbell ‘Clinic’ Wedges. They are beyond comfy and I just want to wear them all day long! And what makes these bad boys even better is that I paid $75 bucks for them from a seller on Poshmark! What did you wear today? xx Nicole FOLLOW ME: FACEBOOK TWITTER BLOGLOVIN INSTAGRAM

B.A.D. Girl Tip: Think Like a BOSS

If you’re like me then saving money is probably a challenge, so I have decided to replace the word “savings” with “profit”. We need to start thinking like a boss! Our goal should be to turn a profit with our personal finances and not experience loss by spending more than we make. So don’t ask yourself if you saved enough money at the end of the month; ask yourself if you made a profit this month instead. Doesn’t that just sound better? And so much more boss lady-ish too! Are you thinking like a boss? xx Nicole

The B.A.D. Girl Movement – #MySmarterCommerce

I began on this journey just shy of 3 years ago because I really disliked how the term “bad girl”  had been misconstrued into something really negative and ugly. I decided to use the blogosphere as my platform to get my voice heard and help create my own unique definition of what it means to be B.A.D. I started MTB Clothing because I wanted to design tangible items that when worn make you feel confident and fearless and remind you to always be Beautiful, Authentic and Determined. You know how wearing a leather jacket instantly makes you feel like a badass? I want our pieces to do that to you. The mission is to create a movement that will change the way we think when we hear the term “bad girl”. Instead of it being seen as a negative it will become a positive title that women will be proud to carry.  Tell me why YOU are a B.A.D. Girl for a chance to be featured on my blog! xx Nicole
